Collaboration for Tigers: WildCats and the Tiger Conservation Coalition

By 26th August 2025Blog

In July, WildCats Conservation Alliance, a Zoological Society of London (ZSL) programme, was proud to participate in the Tiger Conservation Coalition (TCC) Annual Steering Committee meeting at ZSL.

What is the Tiger Conservation Coalition

Formed in 2020, the TCC brings together the world’s leading conservation organisations, uniting behind a single vision: to recover and safeguard wild tiger populations by catalysing an additional 1 billion USD for the conservation of tigers and tiger landscapes between 2024-2034.

Members include:

  • Fauna & Flora
  • Environmental Investigation Agency
  • IUCN SSC Cat Specialist Group
  • IUCN
  • Natural State
  • PANTHERA
  • TRAFFIC
  • UNDP
  • Wildlife Conservation Society
  • WWF
  • Zoological Society of London (ZSL)

Why collaboration matters

Protecting tigers across a global scale cannot be achieved by one organisation alone. Conservation requires cohesion between NGOs, ensuring that efforts are coordinated, expertise is shared, and funding is channelled in the most effective way. By working as one, the Coalition avoids duplication, strengthens collective influence, and maximises impact for wild tigers, the ecosystems they safeguard and the people living alongside them.

During the July TCC meetings, members focused on how best to achieve this: from developing sustainable finance solutions and stronger policies to addressing illegal wildlife trade, reducing human-tiger conflict, and sharing the latest science and communications strategies.

A new hub for tiger conservation

On Global Tiger Day (29 July) in 2025, the Coalition launched its official website, a central hub to share its collective vision, priorities, and the partnerships driving progress for wild tigers.

At WildCats, we’re proud to be part of these efforts through ZSL. By uniting global conservation organisations behind a common purpose, the TCC is showing what’s possible when collaboration leads the way, offering the chance to secure a future where wild tigers thrive.
