Helping People Live Alongside Tigers: The Role of Social Science

An open letter from the conservation frontline on Human Tiger Conflict, published in Animal Conservation:

The paper argues that successful tiger conservation cannot rely on ecological science alone. While India and Nepal have achieved remarkable tiger population recovery, increasing human–tiger conflict now threatens long-term conservation success. The authors contend that social science, understanding human behaviour, livelihoods, values, governance, and tolerance, is essential for helping people and tigers coexist.
