This Tigris project aimed to:
Mediate where there were conflicts between the rural population and the newly established Hunchun Reserve and make it popular with the local communities.
Improve the attitude of villagers towards tigers and their conservation.
Increase the protection of the reserve in co-operation with local villages.
Provide an exchange of ideas and experiences between conservationists in Russia and China in order to improve the quality of conservation on both sides of the border.
Improve monitoring of tiger and leopard populations in and around the Hunchun reserve
