Help End Big Cat Trafficking

From 22-29 April, every donation you make to WildCats via the Big Give 2025 platform will be doubled, helping us reach our fundraising goal of £35,000 / €40,000 / $45,000 to help stop the illegal poaching and trafficking of wild tigers and Amur leopards.

The illegal wildlife trade is a lucrative global industry worth up to £20 billion a year, driven by demand for traditional medicine, luxury items, and exotic pets. It poses a major threat to biodiversity, with wild tigers and Amur leopards among the species most affected. Their skins, bones, teeth, and claws are highly prized, fuelling rampant poaching. A century ago, around 100,000 tigers roamed Asia; now, only about 5,500 remain. Amur leopards fare even worse, with just 120 left in the wild, making them the world’s rarest big cat. Poaching is one of the leading causes for these declines, with at least 150 tigers killed for the illegal wildlife trade every year since the turn of the millennium. Without urgent action, these iconic species could disappear forever.

Prevent, Detect, Intercept

During the Big Give 2025, between 22 April – 29 April,  we’re raising money to help stop the illegal poaching and trafficking of wild tigers and Amur leopards. Every donation you make to support WildCats between 22 April – 29 April will be doubled through our Big Give page.

Your support helps deliver real solutions in some of the most critical regions for big cat conservation: Nepal, Sumatra, Thailand, and the Amur Region. Through three strategic interventions – prevention, detection and interception – we’re working with communities, rangers, and online monitoring teams to disrupt the illegal wildlife trade and protect these iconic animals.

Prevention

We support education and outreach in communities living alongside big cats to prevent poaching before it starts. This includes training community patrol teams to remove snares, offering guardianship roles to former hunters, and promoting wildlife protection through schools and religious networks.

Ensure poaching never occurs

Detection

We also support rangers with the right training, equipment, and consistent funding. This ongoing support allows them to patrol tiger and leopard habitats and quickly detect threats such as snares.

Keep boots on the ground

Interception

Behind the scenes, we fund the consistent monitoring of online platforms to track and report illegal wildlife sales. Targeted interception identifies sellers, tracks illegal activities and reports findings to authorities, disrupting trade networks and intercepting big cat products before they reach buyers.
