Part of the work to protect Amur tigers and leopards is to monitor specific populations so that we can understand their behaviours, habits and the prey density in their area. Armed with that knowledge we can then fund right conservation and protection measures.
Sadly, during the 2019 camera trapping season in Nezhino and the Northern Sectors of the Land of the Leopard National Park in the Russian Far East, 14 of camera traps were stolen and this is no longer unusual.
